" I never thought I would be able to learn to play the piano"

Finally learn to play using your favorite worship and pop songs on piano, and turn your God-given love of music into a skill you can enjoy for life

(even if you’re not a “natural” πŸ˜‰)

ENROLL IN ONLINE PIANO

"I just learned to play my favorite Chris Tomlin song after my 6th lesson. I never thought I would be able to learn to play the piano. Now, after a few lessons, I have confidence that I can actually do this!"

Joni R. Kansas City, MO

Chris Tomlin. Christy Nockels. Lauren Daigle. Carrie Underwood.
These are those one-in-a-million artists that we all look at with awe.
They write and play the songs we love, and they seem to do it effortlessly.
And their music inspires and motivates us.

Case in point: when you hear that one song on the radio you absolutely cannot get enough of and “something” comes over you... A few seconds later you’re in the car and you find yourself playing “air piano” or “air guitar” picturing what it would be like to actually play that song; to be them for just a few minutes.

“Man, if only I could learn to play music like THAT”

And just like most other daydreams, you quickly dismiss it, because of course: they’re gifted, they’re out of the ordinary, and they’ve been doing it their entire lives.

But what about that friend you know who’s always been into music?

Or that piano player at church, who can play pretty much any song they want on command?

Sure they’re not virtuosos, but everyone’s always impressed. You can feel the energy in the room when they play. And you’ve always thought about how amazing it would be if you could do it like they do.

Yet unlike the “pros” you see them at family get-togethers, at work, at church on Sundays, and they seem pretty… well… NORMAL.

So what’s the difference between you and them?

Are they more talented?

Did they come from musical families?

Or is there something they did, or know that you haven’t quite put your finger on yet?

Deep down, you’d love to pick up an instrument and learn to play: and not just “dabble” here and there, but really PLAY with confidence and skill. But for one reason or another, it just hasn’t happened yet.

Maybe you’ve taken traditional lessons before, but stopped because you either weren’t seeing progress, you were paying too much for what you were getting, or both…

Maybe you’ve always wanted to start playing piano, but never did because you couldn’t justify the time and commitment...

Maybe you’ve never even tried to take lessons because you just didn’t think you were the type of person that could learn to play music…

Whatever it is, you’re definitely not alone...

“I began taking piano lessons from a pastor's wife and things just happened in life and I never played in a long time. I grew up playing the clarinet in middle school and in school. I also sing so music is a big part of me. I think my biggest problem is finding time."

-Crystal

“It’s honestly finances for me. I definitely have the time now that I’m in college, but because I’m in college I’m on a tight budget. I love music. I was in Choir throughout High School and I lead Worship at my church and I feel that although singing is great in glorifying God I feel like learning music can add a whole new dynamic. If that wasn’t an issue I would totally learn to play piano.”

-Grace

“Time. That is my number one reason for not practicing as much as I want to… I pray I will get more time.”

-Tina

Sure, you really WANT to learn to play piano… and maybe it’s something you’ve thought about for years.

A lot of times though, it feels like one of those things that will never happen. And if we’re not careful, we get stuck in a bad pattern…

We’re worried that we won’t have enough time to learn what we wanted to, or be able to play what we thought we could, so we don’t even try in the first place.

Or sometimes we try REALLY hard, maybe too hard… That end result isn’t good either. We end up wearing ourselves out the first week of lessons, and then show up unprepared the next week, feeling like we now have to do 2 lessons in one week!

So, we procrastinate and put it off until we feel we HAVE ENOUGH TIME… which ultimately never happens.

Fast forward 8 weeks later, we’ve still only gone through a few introductory lessons and now we’re more discouraged than ever. And we think that the people who do figure it out are just either better, more talented, or lucky than us.

But what if that wasn’t the case?

I want you to imagine for a minute, what it would feel like to have your wife, husband, children, dad, mom, friend, girlfriend, boyfriend… the people closest to you be proud and amazed at how you could play such beautiful music on the piano.

Imagine if you felt equipped and confident to learn to play ANY song you wanted… And then ACTUALLY could play it?

Imagine if you learned how to speak with “language of music” without wondering where all the notes are, or what certain symbols mean.

Imagine if you could fluently play the piano in a truly skillful way that would make anyone stop and wonder how you were able to do that!

Hi, I’m Chris, founder of Rooted Music Coaching and I’m here to help you do just that.

In just a few short years, our team of music coaches at Rooted have helped hundreds of students, of all ages, learn to play real music, often for the first time. And they’re always surprised to discover that it’s actually much easier than they think...

In our locations around the Atlanta, GA area, we’ve taught hundreds of students to play their favorite songs with ease. Take Jordi for example..”

Take Jordi, for example:

The Nashville Number System...

Now I’ve played music in some form or another almost all of my life, and have actually had the privilege to tour with Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels, The Passion Band and worship bands throughout the country. And along the way I often thought about the disconnect between how I was taught music and how I was actually playing music as a professional.

With traditional lessons (which I’ve been through my fair share of), most piano teachers spend lesson upon lesson teaching finger positions, scales, and exercises, all off of sheet music, which also takes time and effort to learn how to read.

Sure, you have to learn the fundamentals first, but spending months, droning on with finger positions, posture, and every conceivable major and minor scale before ever playing a lick of real music?

That seems like a recipe for instant de-motivation to me.

So when I eventually decided to take on my first student, I made it a point to take the foundations of music theory and combine them with learning the “practical” language of music called the Nashville Number System.

This system allows new students to pick up the tools they need to jump in and start playing REAL MUSIC… the stuff that brings a smile to your face.

And it also just happens to be the same system used by professionals in the music world to understand music as a language and be able to speak it fluently.

“The Nashville Number System is extremely important! When you learn piano using the NNS, it will be so much easier to play with other people and you will understand music in such a better way!”

Todd Locke, Music Director and keys player for Lauren Daigle

"The Nashville Number System is so important, It’s like breathing for our band."

Daniel Carson, Guitarist for Chris Tomlin

Nashville Number System is basically the neutral and most translatable way of communicating between different types of instruments and backgrounds.

If a chart is written with chords, when the key gets changed, which it always will, it has to be transposed note-by-note. If it were in numbers, no transposing needed. If you are learning piano and want to play with other musicians, learning the Nashville Number system is vitally important.”

Shane Cole, guitar player for Daniel Bashta

So this is how Jordi and other students like her are able to learn to play their favorite songs within a few short lessons.

And over the years, we’ve stuck to these principles and have been amazed at how well our students have not only progressed with it, but grasped the fundamentals at the same time.

But learning to play piano using these principles is NOT just exclusive to professionals or to our 1-on-1 students at our Rooted Music.

It’s something anyone with a love for music can learn, even just practicing at home.

So we decided to create a program that does exactly that.

Just think, what if:

βœ…  You were able to follow a fun, exciting program, specifically designed to keep you motivated so that you don’t fall behind, and don’t lose hope?

βœ…  You had a clearly laid out, step-by-step framework you could follow to learn to play piano like you’ve always wanted to?

βœ…  You had the ability to practice and improve, at your own pace, in your own time, at a fraction of the cost of traditional music lessons?

You also have the freedom to work through at your own pace… even taking off a few weeks, even months if you need to without worry about paying for weekly lessons you’re not taking advantage of, or feeling guilty that you’re “giving up” on your goal.

“We LOVE the lessons and the format! It has been so nice to let the kids watch your video and follow along. They can rewind or pause anytime they want and I can also watch and assist them. It is really great and works so well for us. For Brooke it is really nice because she enjoys doing things at her pace and for Joseph it is a nice review from what he learned from you when he was taking lessons in 1st grade. “Chris has played in my own personal band through the years and we highly respect him both as a musician and a friend. We also experienced this amazing program as parents! Our son, Noah, took lessons from Rooted Music and he excelled! He is now in the 10th grade and plays for his youth group worship team on a regular basis. I highly recommend this incredibly gifted team of coaches and this unique experience to any child who desires to explore the gift of music!”

-Christy Nockels, singer/songwriter/worship leader

"As I guitarist and worship leader over the past 32 years I know how important it is to have the right instruction from the start and as part of your ongoing development. I highly recommend my friends at Rooted Music Online to be able to help you get started on the right foot as well as continue to develop your musicianship to it's full potential! They are passionate about teaching music, but also care deeply about each individual student."
